D.B. Cooper is or was a mysterious figure in American history, known for hijacking a Boeing 727 in 1971. On November 24th of that year, Cooper boarded Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 with the name "Dan Cooper" written on his boarding pass, successfully receiving a $200,000 ransom before parachuting out of the plane, leaving authorities and the public in shock. The identity and fate of D.B. Cooper remains unsolved, creating the case of the most intriguing unsolved mysteries in aviation history. Despite doing a lot of investigations and a handful of theories, the mystery surrounding D.B. Cooper continues to keep people's interest, creating numerous books, documentaries, and ongoing dinner table discussions attempting to solve the mysteries shrouding the mysterious character that is D.B. Cooper.

When the D.B. Cooper incident was being explained to newspaper writers, they misheard "Dan Cooper" as "D.B. Cooper." After the name "D.B. Cooper" appeared in the newspaper, the name stuck
